Description
Musician and cigar man Avo Uvezian would have turned 100 years old in March. He passed away in 2017 at 91 years old but left behind a cigar brand that continues to evolve. The Avo Expresivo from Davidoff is the newest interpretation of the storied series. It began shipping to retailers yesterday, and while Avo Expresivo isn’t ostensibly a birthday or centennial cigar, it does honor the spirit of Uvezian and Davidoff’s commitment to moving the brand forward.
Unlike past Avo cigars, which are rolled in the Dominican Republic, the Expresivo line is produced at Davidoff’s Honduran factory—a first for the Avo brand. Expresivo is made with a dark wrapper from Ecuador, a Honduran binder and filler from Honduras and Nicaragua. The Honduran tobacco was grown in the Jamastran Valley for “strength, spice and depth.” The Nicaraguan leaf is from Jalapa (for “refinement and sweetness”) and Condega (for “structural balance”). It all amounts to a blend that Davidoff rates as a four out of five in terms of intensity, so the cigars are intended to lean strong.
