Founded by Dr. Gaby Kafie in 2013, Kafie 1901 cigars reflects Gaby’s long family association with Honduras but, also his attention to detail on everything from the cellophane to the box (he makes it all). 1901 signifies the year his ancestors moved to Honduras. Yes, Dr. Gaby Kafie is a real doctor, not just an academic one. He was a Sport Medicine and Podiatric Physician in Miami. Whilst he may not own any tobacco plantations, he owns everything else from cigar factory to cellophane production to making the cigar boxes and humidors.
The Kafie 1901 tobacco is aged for a minimum of 3 years meaning that you should be tasting none of that “freshness” or ammonia found in some cigars. To quote Dr. Gaby Kafie, “The past 3 generations all shared one thing in common, a love for fine cigars. This brand represents the historical influence that “puro’s” have had on our daily lives. Excellence takes time and patience to achieve. KAFIE 1901 Cigars was created for those that are looking for that classic, well-aged, flavourful cigar experience.” No wonder then that he received a nomination for bet Honduran Cigars at the Cigar Journal Awards 2019.
Kafie purchased a 2000 square foot building to be the home for the factory. While an intimate setting, it includes modern amenities such as air-conditioning and a draw test machine. At the same time, he also went through an extensive process to acquire some of the best experienced cigar workers in Honduras. This process not only allows Kafie to staff his factory with the best talent, but also a way to create and keep jobs in Honduras.
Don Fernando Maduro
This blend was created using a 5-6 year aged Cuban Seed Habano wrapper grown in Nicaragua and aged in our factory in Honduras. Binder and filler are aged 3-4 years. Don't let the darkness of the wrapper give you the impression that this is a full body cigar. The blend itself is proprietary and we can not go into too much detail. The tobacco used in our cigars are 100% naturally grown, and naturally aged. The flavor profile is robust and complex, yet its interpretation comes across very balanced. This cigar can be enjoyed by all cigar smokers. Like the foundation of any great structure, consider this blend the foundation of the Kafie 1901 Cigars line up.

Connecticut
This blend took almost 9 months to create. The difficulty came in finding a wrapper that would be suitable for what we wanted to achieve in a Connecticut Blend. The cigar features a medium bodied shade grown wrapper which we discovered in Ecuador. It is absolutely beautiful, in appearance as well as in flavor. The blend also contains a binder and filler from 3 different countries. The 4 country melody is well balanced, flavorful and very elegant on the palate from begining to end. We believe that the Kafie 1901 Connecticut is going to establish itself as a very special cigar in the industry. As with all of our cigars, it's about quality not quantity.

Sumatra
All cigars are not created equal. This blend has an amazing wrapper sun grown in Ecuador. It is aged 4 years and is smooth, soft on the palate, with flavors of rich cream, almond, earth, and mild expresso notes. The blend really comes to life minutes after lighting. It has an amazing and mesmorizing semi sweet finish. Composed of all long filler tobacco from Honduras, the Dominican Republic, and Nicaragua, and Ecuador. Cuban seed Habano binder really balances out the flavors and gives you that liveliness that modern connoisseurs are looking for. Smooth, balanced, flavorful and silky to the finish. This is a cigar that can be enjoyed any time of day.

San Andres
This cigar took almost 2 years to create. The tobaccos in this blend come from five different countries, including our own harvest from Honduras. Liga de la Casa (formerly known as Kafie 1901 premium bundle) is a Spanish term used to describe the factory’s “house blend;” the cigars boast premium-grade fillers from Nicaragua and Honduras, a Honduran binder, and wrapper varietals of either Ecuadorian Habano or Mexican San Andrés maduro.
Natural or San Andres
Both blends in natural and maduro feature tobaccos from a variety of countries. These cigars are made using the finest tobaccos that are high quality mixed filler pieces of tobacco usually 3-5 inches in length. The cigar features a double binder from the Jamastran Valley of Honduras with 3 country fillers to really create a well balanced and flavorful experience. The Mexican San Andres is more bold that the Habano from Ecuador. Both choices give you a great range in sizes. Five total sizes in each blend to be exact. We truly hope you enjoy them.
