Intrepido Sin Compromiso cigar – Sin Compromiso

“Sin Compromiso, without compromise. It is the company mantra and the guiding ethos for everything at Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust.”
Creating a cigar brand to manifest this expression into a tangible reality was an incredibly challenging task. This cigar had to be beyond exceptional. Cultivation of distinct and unique tobaccos to the careful working of these prized leaves. Allowing only the very best torpedoes to handcraft each cigar. Even the box which contains these cigars has to be extra special. In short, this cigar is the absolute best of everything.

The result is a truly unique, complex cigar that is smooth, yet strong at the very same time. It delivers a captivating and entrancing smoke for the experienced palate with flavours that are constantly swirling and changing from puff to puff. At its core is an inherent sweetness paired with a savoury spiciness, but hidden within its layers are notes of cocoa, espresso, loam and even chicory root.
“I spent over three years meticulously crafting and tweaking this blend and I can say without reservation it is personally my best Liga ever.”
It is an intriguing and satisfying smoke.
Each cigar is gently soft pressed, sleeved in Spanish Cedar and packed in beautifully crafted 13-ct matte-lacquered boxes.
The Sin Compromiso “Paladin de Saka” is an extremely limited production of our Sin Compromiso Liga that is blended to be more robust and aged a full year.
The Sin Compromiso Seleccion Intrepido is a medium-strength Corona. A meticulously crafted cigar by Steve Saka. The master blender and owner of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust. Handmade by Joya de Nicaragua, this cigar features a Mexican San Andres Colorado wrapper beautifully draped over an Ecuadorian Habano binder, with a Nicaraguan filler that creates a medium to full-bodied smoke. The flavour profile of the Sin Compromiso Selection offers the palate with rich notes of cocoa, espresso, and caramel.
Lighting up the Sin Compromiso, which means Without Compromise in English. It also happens to the company mantra of Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust.

The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper is almost the definition of luxurious. Smooth. While you can see veins crisscross the length of the Wagashi, you can’t feel the veins. The Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper has a nice sheen of oil on the box-pressed Wagashi. The pigtailed cap is expertly constructed. It’s a luxurious-looking cigar.

Sin Compromiso Intrepido evolution
This cigar pairs perfectly with dark chocolate. The Maduro has prominent dark melted chocolate and coffee flavours. It’s a powerhouse cigar with strong flavours, yet it smokes smooth and fluffy. I get a blend of melted chocolate, ice cream and ice coffee as the cigar evolves while not smoking too warm.
It’s a light fluffy puff and a very smooth cigar.
I will admit that this is one of the best Maduro cigars I have had the privilege to light up and enjoy.
Sin Compromiso Intrepido evolution with sherry
The sherry adds loads of sweetness, which is ideal with this Maduro cigar. There are hints of fig sweetness and chocolate. The spices remain consistent while the blend remains fluffy and creamy even if this cigar has strength. The ash drops quickly. The cigar ash dropped shortly after lighting and did so on its own about three times until the last third.

The Cigar Look:
The Intrepido features a pigtail cap. The cigar features a cedar sleeve which comes up to the band which has a Celtic-like design to it. The dark San Andres wrapper is flawless with some oils and the cigar has a slight box pressed. The cigar is firm but feels light.

The Cigar Notes:
The dry draw is incredible to start the cigar review. Often the cold draw notes are easier to to taste. The same notes appear on the dry draw and the dry aroma.
Once the cigar is lit, there is some pepper to start before the cigar reveals some notes of cocoa and a continued savoury component. As the savoury notes begin to fade some pepper notes emerge especially on the retrohale. As the first third comes to a close some sweetness emerges from the aroma of the cigar.
The second third sees savoury, cocoa and coffee notes that become dominant as they transition to the palate. The sweet notes of the first third disappears and the retorhale offers pepper notes that borders on espresso and savoury notes. The aroma of the cigar still has some sweet nose and there is a touch of barbecue on the finish of the Sin Compromiso Intrepido.
As the final third begins the cigar features notes of melted chocolate and coffee. After we remove the band some sweetness returns as notes of cocoa emerge. As this cigar comes to a close some savoury notes begin to emerge at the end of the retrohale which creates a long finish.
